About the Motivational Interviewing: A Strengths-Based Practice Virtual Training

This virtual course will consist of a combination of eLearning modules and virtual synchronous sessions. Learners will first complete a 30-minute eLearning module introducing them to motivational interviewing as a strengths-based engagement practice model promoting a collaborative approach. Learners will then participate in a 90-minute Instructor-led virtual session that provides an introduction to motivational interviewing focusing on the spirit and skills as a strengths-based approach to engaging families. Learners will get an opportunity to practice using their motivational interviewing skills in small groups.

Who Should Attend?

This course is designed for all staff in Child Welfare and Juvenile Justice.

Important Information

  • Learners will be registered for eLearning modules and/or virtual sessions at the same time.
  • Learners that have not completed required eLearning modules prior to the virtual session will be withdrawn from the virtual session.
  • Learners will receive a Certificate of Completion upon completion of each component of the program and will not be able to move on to the next component until completing the prior component.
  • Completion of eLearning modules and attendance at virtual sessions will be verified and captured in Cornerstone.
