Engaging Families Experiencing Substance Use

A Learning Program for NYC Child Welfare Professionals

About Engaging Families Experiencing Substance Use

The New York City Administration for Children’s Services would like to ensure that children, young people and families receive assistance addressing substance use related issues. This includes strengthening child welfare professionals’ abilities to identify potential substance use issues and provide individuals with the appropriate referrals for services. This learning program seeks to provide ACS staff and their contracted provider agencies with the ability to engage individuals living with substance use issues around seeking treatment, discuss non-treatment options and explore barriers that influence individuals to minimize their substance use and decline seeking treatment.
